Prior to ISL2024–25, the reigning Indian Super League Shield winners Mohun Bagan Super Giants have appointed former ATK coach Jose Molina as their new head coach. After Spain was eliminated by Morocco in the 2022 World Cup’s last-16, Jose Molina, the team’s previous sporting director, resigned from his post in December 2022.
The breadth of Jose Molina’s expertise As a coach, he has worked with several Spanish teams, most notably La Liga’s Villarreal. Among the teams he managed while coaching were Getafe B, Villarreal B and C, and San Luis Club. Previously, during the competition’s third season, Molina guided ATK to the ISL championship.

Jose Molina’s Achievement Antonio Lopez Habas as Head Coach of the Mohun Bagan Super Giants
After Juan Ferrando left the team in the middle of the season, Spanish head coach Antonio Lopez Habas led Mohun Bagan to victory in the ISL 2023–24 Shield. Habas was reluctant to carry on as head coach for personal reasons even though he had agreed to stay with the team.
Prior to ISL2024–25, Molina will join the Mohun Bagan Super Giants.
Mohun Bagan’s victory in the ISL Shield earned them a spot in the highly competitive AFC Champions League 2. The team looked for a well-known head coach in order to compete well in this showcase event, and in the end, they came to an agreement with Molina, who would move back to his native Kolkata. Molina faces a significant hurdle in his new job at Mohun Bagan SG, though, as one of the biggest fan bases in the nation has great expectations for him.
