The new romantic comedy “A Family Affair,” from the makers of “Anyone but You,” which stars Nicole Kidman, Zac Efron, Joey King, Liza Koshy, and Kathy Bates, has a trailer available on Netflix.

The movie centers on Zara Ford (King), a young lady who finds out that her boss, movie star Chris Cole (Efron), is having an affair with her single mother Brooke (Kidman). This is Efron and Kidman’s third collaboration on a major motion picture; the first was “The Paperboy” in 2012, and the second was “The Butler,” which came out the following year.

In the teaser, Brooke tells her daughter, “I am starting to feel things that I never thought I would feel again, not since your father died.” Zara angrily yells out to her mom, “No! That was not all you said!

Since appearing as Elle Evans in the “Kissing Booth” film trilogy, King has been a mainstay of the Netflix original library. In “Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile,” when he portrayed serial murderer Ted Bundy, Efron made his Netflix debut. In 2020, he received his own reality program, “Down to Earth.” In 2020, Kidman made her debut and sole performance in a Netflix movie with “The Prom.”

“A Family Affair” was initially scheduled for release in November 2023, but because of WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, it was rescheduled until November 2024.

Carrie Solomon wrote the screenplay, which is directed by Richard LaGravenese. Producers are Jeff Kirschenbaum and Joe Roth. Executive producers include Solomon, Alyssa Altman, and Michelle Morrissey.
