At the 2024 T20 World Cup, explosive batsman Nicholas Pooran of the West Indies was spotted shattering numerous records in their Group C match against Afghanistan.

In T20 cricket, explosive hitters Johnson Charles and Nicholas Pooran have tied the record for most runs in an over. Nicholas Pooran of the West Indies scored 36 runs in an over off the bowling of Azmatullah Omarzai of Afghanistan during the first innings. When Azmatullah Omarzai entered the game to bowl the fourth over of the innings, this took place.
After hitting a six off the opening ball of the fourth over, Nicholas Pooran hit the next no ball for a boundary. Five runs occurred after the subsequent ball went wide for a boundary.

Nicholas Pooran got bowled but was not out while the free hit went on. With the third delivery, the bowler again gave up four runs through the leg bye as he stammered. With a boundary and two sixes off the final three balls, the record runs were achieved. That means that in one over, the West Indies batsmen scored 36 runs. In a T20 World Cup, West Indies scored 93 runs, their highest Powerplay total ever.

In his ten overs, Azmatullah Omarzai had four leg-by-runs, five wides, a no-ball, and ten extras.
