Horizon Zero Dawn is confirmed to be receiving a remaster for the PS5. The highly anticipated new edition, which has been subject to rumors and occasional leaks, was unveiled during today’s PlayStation State of Play presentation.

This appears to be a significant improvement, with the developers incorporating ten hours of new motion capture to enhance the game’s visuals to a level comparable to its sequel, Horizon Forbidden West. The remastered version of Horizon Zero Dawn will be available on October 31 for PS5 and PC. If you have the game for PS4, you can upgrade at a reduced cost of $9.99 USD.

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered was listed by ESRB this month and has been rumored since 2022. In both instances, fans were prompt in questioning if the game truly required a remaster, but the discussion really escalated when The Last of Us 2 Remastered was unveiled earlier this year- just under four years after the game’s initial release.

Horizon Zero Dawn is actually quite older than that. However, Sony’s PS5 remaster projects have been somewhat strange because we are used to receiving many free upgrades on the new console, such as the 60 FPS patch for Horizon. I’m simply wondering if Sony will at least hold off until the PS6 before releasing the inevitable Horizon Forbidden West remaster.
