Followers of Cthulhu is a dark city-building game filled with Eldritch ceremonies and insanity, set to be released in early access later this year.

Revealed today on March 21 during the Future Game Show, Worshippers of Cthulhu is a unique city-builder where you construct in honor of a terrifying god. Imagine Tropico, but with fewer tropical elements and more focus on commanding your cultist devotees to partake in satanic Eldritch ceremonies in honor of Cthulhu.

It is your responsibility as the cult leader to assign tasks to your followers in order to construct a strong and powerful city capable of resisting The Old One’s might. You can make them work day and night building the city or travel to distant lands for raiding and converting non-believers.

You must effectively oversee your production chains and workers, while also leading them through unknown ruins and dangers in the mysterious outside world. It is your task to discover and defeat the mysterious gods and threats that abound in the realm and beyond.

At the beginning, you have limited understanding of the world beyond and of Cthulhu, but you must increase your knowledge through dark rituals, including sacrificing followers to honor The Old One. Immersed in Lovecraft’s distinctive writing style and language, you can discover more about the Great Old One, Dagon, and other beings from Lovecraft’s works.

Performing horrifying ceremonies allows you to give sinister gifts to your devotees. Playing a dangerous game of trade-offs, you may lose followers during the Eldritch ceremonies, but in exchange, you’ll gain alluring powers and skills to rule your followers and dominate the known world, with cities spread across islands and mountains.

Followers of Cthulhu will be released in 2024 for early access on PC, remaining in that phase for approximately a year. Following this, in the year 2025, the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S editions of Worshippers of Cthulhu will be released, featuring fresh chapters, maps, and extra gameplay elements to please the Great One.
