There is a heat dome over California and Arizona, and temperatures there today are predicted to reach 110 degrees. The temperature at Walt Disney World is expected to be close to 100 degrees. Significant portions of the Southwest region of the United States are under serious or extreme heat warnings. However, there is good news: ice cream is free!

Later this month, Kroger will celebrate the formal start of summer by giving out 45,000 pints of its store-brand ice cream. On June 20, the summer solstice, interested parties can obtain a coupon for the complimentary food at FreeKrogerIceCream.com.

The bad news is this: Nevada and California, two of the states most severely affected by the current heat wave, will not be able to participate in the promotion. The following states are also not eligible: North Dakota, Colorado, Idaho, Louisiana, Montana, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Virginia.)

For the summer, Kroger is giving out 45,000 pints of ice cream. This is the process for obtaining one.

The majority of Kroger-owned brands, including Fred Meyer, PayLess, and Fry’s, accept the coupons.
Though it may not be a diet food, ice cream may not be as unhealthy as you may have thought, according to recent research. In 2022, a research conducted by Tufts University’s Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy assigned a score of 0 to 100 to foods based on a range of factors, including protein, vitamins, and additives. Because of its protein content and combination of fats and other vitamins, ice cream ultimately received a higher ranking than multigrain bars or bagel with raisins.

Regarding the rationale for the overall quantity of giveaways? On the solstice, Kroger claims to be giving away 50 pints for each minute of sunshine. In temperate latitudes, the day’s sun is typically visible above the horizon for roughly 15 hours, or 900 minutes.
