Cena stated in his tearful speech that 2025 will be his last year competing in professional wrestling. Key events from his farewell tour were highlighted by him, including his performances on the first RAW show of the year, WWE’s Netflix premiere, and historic occasions like the Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber, which culminated in his final WWE WrestleMania encounter in Las Vegas.
Declaring, “Tonight, I am officially announcing my retirement from the WWE,” Cena gave what he called the most emotional promo of his career. WWE Head of Creative Paul “Triple H” Levesque congratulated Cena on his retirement, sharing a backstage photo of the two of them with the comment, “The Greatest of All Time.”
To be more specific, Cena stated that WrestleMania 41 will not be his last match and that he will take part in 30 to 40 more matches before retiring from the ring. After retiring, Cena intends to switch from his signature jorts—his wrestling uniform—to more formal wear for public engagements.
With his retirement, John Cena marks the end of a chapter in WWE history. He tied the record for most top title triumphs in WWE history with Ric Flair, having won three world heavyweight titles and 13 WWE championships. 2018 saw Cena switch to a part-time schedule, but since then, he has concentrated on developing younger talent, frequently “putting talent over” by promoting bright newbies to the ring.
Cena’s loss against Solo Sikoa at Crown Jewel 2023, his final match, came after he took ten Samoan Spikes, demonstrating his dedication to passing the baton to the upcoming generation of WWE superstars.
