The Venom 3 trailer’s “ruins” infuriated Marvel fans. A scene from the film Spider-Man: No Home
“Am I the only one who finds this strange?” One MCU spectator voiced dissatisfaction.
Regarding a character cameo in the Venom 3 trailer, Marvel fans are left perplexed.
Sony unveiled the first image of Venom: The Last Dance, the third and last movie in the Spider-Man spin-off series, on Wednesday, June 3.
Sony had the exclusive rights to certain Spider-Man characters, therefore their films were usually set outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). However, when licencing agreements evolved, the studios began working together.
Tom Hardy, the star of the Venom series, made an appearance in an MCU scene during the mid-credits of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Now, a different MCU figure can be seen in the teaser for The Last Dance. It doesn’t seem reasonable, though, that they are included.
Chiwetel Ejiofor, who debuted in Doctor Strange and reappeared as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, as Karl Mordo once more in the teaser.
However, the guy appears to be portraying a completely different version of Venom because he is dressed in army gear and is heading a group of operatives to catch Venom, which sets him apart from the persona shown in the Doctor Strange film series.
Given that Mordo may be seen in the same spot, this is confusing to fans. Since Venom is based on the No Way Home post-credits sequence, it may be assumed that the movie takes place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and that Mordo is a familiar character.
Following this, fans have concluded that the movie is not set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and that Mordo’s appearance in the pub is a continuity problem.
Many people voiced their astonishment online after viewing the trailer.
“So you have Chiwetel Ejiofor in Venom 3 as a new character, which takes place in its own universe,” a fan commented. However, he is currently a part of the MCU and is not portraying Baron Mordo, as he did in the past. Moreover, he is reclaiming the remaining symbiote in the MCU. Well Done, Sony!
“I have questions,” said an additional. For example, why was the actor who plays Mordo cast? Why didn’t Mordo gather the symbiote in 616? Doesn’t that sour the final credit scene of No Way Home?
Another MCU fan, meanwhile, posted on X/Twitter, asking if anybody else thought it was strange that Mordo was in Venom: The Last Dance. I like the guy, so I’m not complaining, but the multiverse is making things strange.
On October 25, Venom: The Last Dance will be shown in theatres.
