The Hotel Inspector from Channel 5 is back at the Heath and Reach pub.
Three years after her initial visit, residents can watch as Alex Polizzi returns to The Dukes to catch up with managing director Sarah Smith and her two daughters.
The Leighton Road tavern is having trouble keeping up with the rising cost of living. Will Alex be able to pull “one last trick out of her sleeve” and lead the team to victory?
“It was so exciting to have Alex and her team back at The Dukes last May [2023],” Sarah said to the LBO. Everyone was feeling the effects of constantly rising costs, and we were having a lot of trouble filling bedrooms again.
“We nearly exhaled with relief when I learned that Alex would be returning. She was a huge assistance the last time, and the exposure we received from performing the show really increased the number of guests.”I owe a huge debt of gratitude to Alex and the entire production crew. Everyone enjoyed the experience, including the townspeople, visitors, and the crew, which now includes both of my daughters who work here.”
In the 270-year-old bar, Alex discovered that The Dukes “begged for character interiors that matched its external charm” and that Sarah was working “relentlessly” in the kitchen in an attempt to turn a profit.
But with Alex’s assistance, Sarah turned her company into a welcoming pub with rooms.
A spokesperson for Channel 5 stated: “Now Alex is back to see whether The Dukes is still reigning strong or whether Sarah has returned to servitude in the kitchen.”Although Alex considers Sarah to be the ideal student, there is a crisis in the cost of living, with food and services rising at an uncontrollably high rate. Alex quickly returns to her work as Hotel Inspector to pull one last ruse out of her sleeve because there isn’t much room to change hotel rates given how hard the country is hitting the financial slump.”
Sarah and her group have been working hard to plan community events in the interim.
Every month on the last Friday, The Dukes host an Open Mic Night to support local artists, and on the last Saturday of the month, they continue their Classic Car Meet over a classic English breakfast.
The first quiz night of the new monthly series at the bar is scheduled on July 25. Teams of six people or less are welcome to participate, and each month there will be a cash award as well as a rollover cash prize. To reserve a spot, give 01525 237892 a call.
We continue to host events that we hope the community will appreciate, but we still need their support.”
On Thursday, June 27, at 8 p.m., The Hotel Inspector airs on Channel 5 and My 5.
“Collaborating with Alex has been an amazing experience,” Sarah said in closing. Her advice and thoughts have been essential, and I have no doubt that we can succeed going forward. My children, Molly and Grace, who were both still in school when the first episode was filmed, are now both employed at The Dukes, which is fantastic. Their zeal and vigour have added an additional layer. It’s a pleasure working with them.
