Shakib Khan’s “Toofan” Is Still the Top Film in Theatres After Eid
Bangladeshi moviegoers are still enthralled by Shakib Khan and Mimi Chakraborty’s “Toofan” even after Eid-ul-Azha has concluded. With its gripping plot and outstanding acting, this Raihan Rafi-directed picture from Alpha-I Studios Ltd. has brought life to the present film industry.
Audiences have responded particularly well to the film’s musical tracks “Uradhura” and “Dushtu Kokil,” with the playful notes of “Dushtu Kokil” being well-known outside of Bengal. Since its June 20 release on SVF’s YouTube account, just days after the film’s June 17 premiere, the song—performed by Bangladeshi musician Dilshad Nahar Kana, with lyrics and music direction by Akash Sen—has dominated the country’s YouTube trending list.
In light of the movie’s popularity, Mimi Chakraborty observed, “This song has been extremely warmly appreciated by the Bangladeshi public. I’ve watched films of a large number of onlookers in Bangladeshi theatres dancing to this song.” Shakib Khan, who plays two roles in the movie with her, also shared his happiness with the huge response from viewers.
Beyond Bangladesh, “Toofan” has an impact. Distributed by Bangaj Films, the movie has been shown in theatres around Australia and overseas. The Bengali diaspora is exhibiting a great deal of interest in it, with showings in major places including Campbelltown, Bankstown, Blacktown, Eastgardens, Mount Druitt, and Waraong.
The film showcases a remarkable group of actors, including Gausul Alam Shawon, Chanchal Chowdhury, Masuma Rahman Nabila, Fazlur Rahman Babu, Gazi Rakayet, and Salauddin Lovelu. Shakib Khan has played a criminal in the 1990s with remarkable skill; the tale centres on his turbulent life.
“I have dreamed for a long time, many years ago, I want to see Bangladeshi cinema globally,” Shakib Khan said in an interview with the Indian Express about his vision for Bangladeshi film. Many initially believed that since I was talking about words, they couldn’t exist. However, everything I had imagined is now coming true.”
Mimi Chakraborty also lauded the film’s production value and Shakib Khan’s commitment. I worked on the film ‘Toofan’, directed by Shakib Khan. However, I never imagined that the movie would be made to such a high standard. In Bangladesh, this film has shattered records dating back decades.”
Shakib Khan has proven his star power once more with “Toofan,” solidifying his place as a Dhallywood megastar and introducing Bangladeshi film to a global audience. The worldwide recognition and admiration of Bangladeshi films is increasing, and Shakib Khan and his supporters believe that this trend will continue. The success of the film is a testament to this.
