Good rainfall during the four-month season will be ensured nationwide by an early or timely start of the monsoons. Furthermore, a season with rainy conditions does not necessarily result from a delayed start to the monsoon.

Large portions of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Maharashtra were blanketed by it by June 10. Less rainfall than usual was recorded in Odisha, Bengal, Bihar, and Jharkhand. The low rainfall in the country can be attributed to the return of dry weather across Manipur, Mizoram, Lakshadweep, Nagaland, Kerala, Arunachal Pradesh, and the Andaman-Nicobar Islands.
