One thing that Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik, the former couple, still share a lot is their love for their daughter, Khai.
Khai was welcomed in September 2020 by singer Malik, 31, and model Hadid, 29, and they have been gushing about her ever since.

On “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” Malik claimed that his three-year-old child is already demonstrating some musical ability.
He remarked, “She can recall every word to every song she listens to, and she’s got a real good retention for lyrics at the moment.”
“The strange thing is that I’m the only musical person in my family; I don’t really have any parents who are musicians, so to see it in her—I wonder if it’s inherited or if she just likes music like I do—is amazing,” he went on.
A number of times over the years, notably on TODAY, Hadid and Malik have discussed raising Khai together. In 2022, Hadid confided to Willie Geist on Sunday Sitdown that she believes her daughter is bright, but “that’s what everyone says about their kid.”
According to her mother, Khai is already engaged in self-care, as reported in a Sept. 6 feature in W magazine.
Hadid remarked, “We get ready together. She watches me do my thing. She’ll brush her teeth with me, and it’s so cute that she wants to put on moisturiser now.”
Hadid emphasised Khai’s intelligence while also describing how much pleasure she has living with her kid.
She is almost three years old and, if I do say so myself, a genius. She makes me laugh a lot and we laugh and dance all day.

Hadid informs Jimmy Fallon that she is pregnant.
In a March 2020 video interview, Hadid revealed her pregnancy to Jimmy Fallon on “The Tonight Show.”
Fallon gave Hadid congrats on the announcement of her baby.
“Thank you so much,” she responded. “Obviously we wish we could’ve announced it on our own terms, but we’re very excited and happy and grateful for everyone’s well wishes.”
Hadid expressed her gratitude for the time she had with her loved ones while she was pregnant.
“It’s a nice silver lining to be able to be home and together, and really experience it day by day.”
Hadid strikes a pregnancy posture for a picture.
In August 2020, Hadid shared a series of monochromatic photos that showcased her growing baby bulge.
She smiled and wrote, “growin an angel,” as the caption for one of the photos.
Another tweet she made included a set of images and complimented her photo shoot crew.
“appreciating it now. thank you for all the love and best wishes,” she uttered.
Hadid and Malik celebrated Khai’s birth on social media.
Khai, the daughter of Malik and Hadid, was born on September 19, 2020.
When the child was born, the couple kept her name a secret.
Malik shared a touching statement about the birth of his daughter on Twitter, along with a picture of the two of them holding hands.
“Our baby girl is here, healthy and beautiful,” he wrote. “It would be impossible to try to put into words how I feel right now.” It is beyond comprehension how much love I have for this tiny human. I’m happy to have met her, honoured to call her my own, and appreciative of the life we will share x.”
On September 23, Hadid shared a similar picture of Khai and Malik holding hands on Instagram.
“Since she arrived on Earth this past weekend, our girl has completely transformed our lives. So enamoured.”
Hadid changed her Instagram bio to “khai’s mom” in January 2021, discreetly revealing her daughter’s name.
Hadid talks candidly about being a mother and her birth experience.

Hadid disclosed to Vogue in February 2021 that she gave birth to Khai at home without the use of medication, and that Malik had really caught the baby as she was born.
Hadid remarked, “I was so tired, and I looked up and he’s holding her. It was so cute. It didn’t even click that she was out.”
In the interview, Hadid also said that she intended to raise Khai on her farm in Pennsylvania with Malik.
She declared, “I think she’ll definitely be raised here. I think that’s really important to Zayn and me. The farm-y lifestyle and the greenery are similar to what made me feel really centred as a kid.”
She talked about how having a child had altered her life.
“You look over and you’re like, ‘OK, what now?’ and you ask all of your friends the same questions, and everyone has a different answer,” she said. “You have a kid and you’re lying in bed together.”
“And at that point, you kind of realise that everybody works things out on their own,” she went on. “This is our way, and even though you can take ideas and parts from other people, you’ll always end up doing it a little bit differently. You do it in your own way.”
She disclosed her desire to minimise Khai’s exposure to the public.
“I see my friends who are public figures’ kids really blossom in a different way, and that’s how they’ve gone about it,” the woman remarked.
Malik talks about his experience being a father.

Malik discussed becoming a father in March 2021 on iHeartRadio’s “Valentine in the Morning.”
“It’s amazing, really. A lot of people I was talking to, obviously before she was born, were like, ‘It’s a big adjustment, and it’s going to be a massive change and stuff.’ But really, she’s a great baby, and Gigi and I have found it really easy to kind of ease into it. She sleeps really well and she loves her milk.”
“At the moment, it’s just about feeding and changing diapers,” he said. “It’s wicked. I’m enjoying it, for sure.”
He also complimented Hadid’s ability to parent.
“She’s a wicked mum. Obviously, she’s a really big help with everything. Yeah, she’s doing well.”
When asked what about being a father has surprised him, Malik said that having a child has made him more focused.
“There’s a lot of things that are definitely surprising. I didn’t expect to be quite as into it. I was always doing my own thing — writing, recording, making music. I was very focused on my career. I had time for my relationships, too, but it was still solely about me,” he stated.
“The fact that she’s been so easy to adjust to has been surprising to me, because I just love spending my days with her, hanging out with her, just doing relaxing chill stuff, watching kid’s shows on TV, learning nursery rhymes, rolling around with her, singing to her. It’s a really different pace of life, but it’s been really easy to adjust to.”
He also mentioned that he lulls Khai to sleep.
“Sometimes she kind of makes sounds back to me, which is amazing,” he stated. “I just like singing to her.”
Hadid observes Mother’s Day for the first time.
In May 2021, Hadid celebrated her first Mother’s Day by sharing a heartfelt homage to Khai.
“The rumours are true: my best friend, purpose, muse, greatest pride & joy!” she declared. “I feel so lucky and inspired bein your mama, my Khai !! An old soul full of sunshine, you light up everyone’s days! Thank you thank you thank you.”
She uploaded several adorable pictures of herself cuddling Khai.
In July 2021, Hadid enthused over Khai’s development in an interview with Access Hollywood.
The simplest things are, in my opinion, the highlights. Even if it’s something as simple as picking up a cup or putting a ball in a hole, watching her learn something new every day makes you think she’s the greatest thing that has ever been born,” she remarked.
Hadid requests that photographers respect her personal space.
Even though Hadid posts pictures of Khai on social media all the time, she makes sure to hide her daughter’s face.
Hadid posted a statement on her Instagram story in June 2021 requesting that “paparazzi, press, and fan accounts” refrain from posting images in which Khai’s face is visible.
“As our baby grows up we have to realise that we can’t protect her from everything the way we wanted to and could when she was smaller,” Hadid stated. “She loves seeing the world! And although she gets a lot of that out near our farm, she also gets to experience other places — a true blessing. On our most recent visits to New York, she’s started to want her sunroof [of the cart] raised (something she’s used to at home). She doesn’t understand why she needs to be covered in town, or what I wanted to protect her from. I also want her to see the most amazing city in the world — the beautiful and diverse people who walk the streets of New York… that is, without the stress of the media circus that accompanies parents who are public figures.”
“I know the laws change State to State, and I’ve seen some paparazzi photos of kids in New York with their faces blurred — but, from asking around, I believe that that comes down to the integrity of the photographer, publication, or fans sharing the images,” she said.
She requested that the media and the public honour her and Malik’s efforts to keep Khai’s identity private.
“I write all of this to say: To the Paparazzi, the press, and the accounts of beloved fans, you know that we never intentionally share our daughters’ faces on social media,” she stated. “Our wish is that she can choose how to share herself with the world when she comes of age, and that she can live as normal of a childhood as possible, without worrying about a public image that she has not chosen. It would mean the world to us, as we take our daughter to see and explore NYC and the world, if you would PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE blur her face out of the images, if and when she is caught on camera. She expressed gratitude to all who honoured her requests.
“I would like to send a huge ‘Thank you’ to those paparazzi who have been so respectful, since I’ve asked them to keep a distance while I walked with the pram since my first trip to NYC with Khai. I see you and I appreciate it.”
“For a child, I can imagine that close or dramatic paparazzi frenzies must be overwhelming and disorienting…it still is as an adult that understands and deals with it often,” she stated. “Thanks for taking the time to read this and hope you can understand where I’m coming from.”

Malik speaks openly about co-parenting following his split from Hadid.
The couple reportedly split up in October 2021 after Gigi Hadid’s mother Yolanda Hadid allegedly got into a fight with Malik.
On October 28, Malik made a statement regarding the circumstances on Twitter.
“As you are all aware, I am a private individual, and I sincerely hope to establish a secure and personal environment for my daughter to grow up in,” he wrote. “A location where personal family matters aren’t exposed for criticism by the public.”
In the statement, he made reference to the confrontation with Yolanda Hadid.
“In an effort to protect that space for (Khai) I agreed to not contest claims arising from an argument I had with a family member of my partner’s who entered our home while my partner was away several weeks ago.”
“This was and should remain a private matter,” he went on, “but it appears that there is conflict right now, and in spite of my attempts to bring our family back to harmony so that I can co-parent my daughter in the way she deserves, this has been ‘leaked’ to the media.”
“Despite the harsh words shared, I am hopeful that everyone involved will find healing. More importantly, though, I will continue to be vigilant in protecting Khai and giving her the privacy she deserves,” he said in closing.
Hadid shares Khai’s accomplishments with Willie Geist.
Hadid spoke about Khai in a September 2022 interview with Willie Geist’s Sunday Sitdown.
“I think she’s a genius, but that’s what everyone says about their kid,” she said with a grin.
“She is a blessing, and it’s so much fun—the more she communicates, comprehends, and remembers, the more fun it becomes.
She mentioned how “so mobile” Khai is and how she particularly works on her motor skills first thing in the morning.
Hadid describes how she starts her “very mum” day.
In a Wall Street Journal interview from January 2023, Hadid said that Khai sets her morning routine.
She remarked, “I wake up at whatever time she wakes up. I have a very mum morning routine.”
She also consumes whatever breakfast Khai is eating.
“I cook her pancakes and sausages every day. She asked me what I wanted for Christmas, so I told Santa I wanted a new pancake pan. So I ordered this cool pancake pan via Santa, and it’s really fun because each little circle pancake represents a different animal, like lion pancakes or llama pancakes.” Hadid added.
Malik discusses Khai candidly in “Call Her Daddy”
In a rare July 2023 interview, Malik talked about his tight relationship with Khai with “Call Her Daddy” anchor Alex Spencer.
“Since having my daughter, my primary focus has been on trying to set a good example for her,” he stated. You know, that’s the reason I’m doing this interview at all. This kind of discourse used to give me a lot of anxiety. And I want her to be able to say, “My dad’s doing this,” when she looks at me.”
He disclosed that he and Hadid split custody of Khai 50/50.
“I’m hands-on with my child every chance I can be,” he stated.
“I feel like she’s grown up so fast, so that time I have with her is so important,” he went on. “When I’m with her, I don’t work; we just spend the whole day doing the things that she wants to do, like paint, play-doh, this, that, go to the park, theme park, zoo, like we just have fun.”
Malik takes care when bringing Khai up in public.
“She will know, you know, she will get to that point. I’m just trying to give her an option, so it’s like a choice for her. If she wants to be away from it, she can be out here,” he said. “I’m not necessarily trying to shield her from (my life) because she’s gonna know, you know, she will get to that point.”
I think she will have a lot of alternatives, and I will undoubtedly back her in anything she chooses to pursue in life,” he continued.
Having Khai has made Malik’s life more cheerful.
“With her, I feel as though I’ve relived my own childhood. She’s brought that colour back, in my opinion, since as adults we reach a point where everything is kind of hazy, grey, and boring,” he remarked.

On July 31, Hadid posted a tonne of cute pictures of herself and her small daughter having a great summer.
Pictures of the two showing them picking blueberries, boating, and eating popsicles give the impression that Khai has been enjoying a terrific season at her family’s farm, even though her face is never shown.

Hadid shares candidly about her life as a working mother.
Hadid discussed her work/life balance and the reasons becoming a mother has made her more “intentional” with her time in an interview she gave in September with PORTER.
“I think being a parent requires intentionality because, at the moment, I work half the time while my daughter is with her dad,” the mother remarked. “And that’s the time I have.”
On some days, I will literally pack in as many jobs as possible. I may be a crazy person at times, but if it means a lot to me, then I do it. “And the jobs I choose to fill that time with have to be ones that are fulfilling to me.”
Hadid honours Khai on his third birthday.
On September 20, 2023, Hadid honoured Khai’s third birthday by sharing some adorable pictures of the two of them over the years. Khai is growing older by the second.
Two photos showed Khai and her mother enjoying a lovely day at the beach, while another showed Khai lying down next to her mother as she dozed off on a bed.
Hadid also posted a picture of Khai’s “Frozen” birthday cake and her daughter’s meal, which had three lit candles on top of the food.
“Have been celebrating our THREE YR OLD this week & just so honoured to get to be her mama, to get to see life through her,” Hadid wrote as the description for the photo. To my most adorable, astute, and vivacious best friend, happy birthday!!!!!! Love of my life and DREAM KID.”
