On June 23, 45 minutes before it was due to land at London’s Heathrow Airport, Air India’s Flight 182, often known as “Kanishka,” detonated while it was traveling from Montreal to New Delhi.
The bombing, which was thought to be a reprisal for “Operation Bluestar,” a military operation in 1984 to drive militants out of the Golden Temple, was attributed to Sikh extremists, according to reports.
The Canadian Police indicated earlier on June 22 of this year that their investigations into the bombing of Air India Flight 182 are still “active and ongoing.” Assistant Commissioner David Teboul of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) stated in a statement on Friday
The longest and perhaps one of the most intricate domestic terrorist investigations the RCMP has ever conducted is the Air India probe, according to Teboul. “Our investigation work is still ongoing and active.”
