Billy Joel takes his daughter to Kravis in West Palm for an intense virtual reality experience.
Billy Joel, aka the Piano Man, is a rock star and a mainstay of popular culture, performing on some of the biggest venues in the world.
Billy Joel, however, was merely a parent out on the town with his daughter on a recent day at the Kravis Centre for the Performing Arts in West Palm Beach.
He visited “Space Explorers: The Infinite,” an immersive virtual reality experience at the Kravis through September 2, with his 8-year-old daughter Della Rose on June 5, according to a Kravis representative.
Enter the virtual reality realm of “The Infinite” with Oculus Quest 2 headsets in hand, and discover the interior and exterior operations of the International Space Station through high-definition footage produced and edited by Felix & Paul Studios, a film studio, and PHI Studio, a Montreal-based company.
During the 45-minute performance, viewers navigate through the exhibit by engaging with virtual bubbles that appear at various locations on the floor.
After “The Infinite,” Joel and Della were briefly filmed by the Kravis Centre. In the video, the father-daughter pair expressed their enjoyment of the experience, which allows them to appear to step off the edge of the International Space Station and into an open maw of stars and darkness.
Joel remarked, grinning, “She just ran,” gesturing to Della.
Joel has lived in Palm Beach County for a long time, part-time. He was involved in the $29 million purchase of a house in a Boca Raton gated enclave earlier this year. Over the years, he has also purchased properties in Palm Beach and Manalapan.
According to public records, Joel purchased a Palm Beach townhouse in 2021. His oceanfront mansion, located at 1110 S. Ocean Blvd., Manalapan, was originally offered for $64.9 million, but is now only asking $49.9 million.
During the season, Joel and his spouse Alexis are often spotted at Palm Beach events. Della Rose and Remy Anne, who is six years old, are their two daughters. Joel’s last marriage to supermodel Christie Brinkley produced another daughter, singer Alexa Ray Joel, 38.
Della Rose barely qualified to participate in “Space Explorers: The Infinite.” Children under the age of eight should not participate in the virtual reality experience, and those between the ages of eight and twelve may only enter if a parent or legal guardian signs a waiver. According to the Kravis Centre, admission of children younger than eight years old is not advised by the creators of the virtual reality technology in use.
