A film on the two Indian cricket team leaders was shot in less than three months, but it was a complete failure.
In Bollywood, the popularity of biopics and sports plays has grown in the past several years. Numerous Indian cricket players have been the subject of films up to this point. 2016 also saw the release of two biographical films. The subjects of both two films were two Indian cricket players who captained their country’s cricket team. These two cricketers are none other than Mohammad Azharuddin and Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
July 7th is Mahi’s birthday. It’s his 43rd birthday today. Let’s use this chance to find out how his biopic fared at the box office. Because the movies starring the two cricket players were released about three months apart, we are discussing Azharuddin’s film here.
Let’s start with Captain Cool’s film, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story. “MS Dhoni: The Untold Story” is the title of the film, which debuted in September 2016. Mahi was portrayed in this movie by the late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. In the film, Disha Patani played his girlfriend Priyanka. Sakshi, his spouse, was portrayed by Kiara Advani.
Director Neeraj Pandey told Dhoni’s tale from the bottom to the top in this movie. The movie’s plot and Sushant’s portrayal of Dhoni were well-liked by viewers. Saknilk claims that although the movie had a Rs 104 crore budget, it brought in Rs 133.09 crore in India. The movie proved to be successful.
Azhar: A movie called “Azhar” about the late Indian cricket captain Muhammad Azharuddin was released. The actor that portrayed Azhar was Emraan Hashmi. In May of 2016, the movie was released. The movie was a box office failure since it lacked any unique charm for the audience. In addition, Prachi Desai, Lara Dutta, and Nargis Fakhri were in the movie. Saknilk claims that the film’s budget was 38 crore rupees. But the movie barely made Rs. 33.16 crores were collected overall.
