The first look poster for Amal Neerad's upcoming film, Bougainvillaea, which stars Kunchacko Boban and Fahadh Faasil, conveys a sense of dread.

The image, which features prominent roles for Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, and Jyothirmayi and is heavily coloured in blood red, conveys a sense of horror and emphasises that Bougainvillaea will be another action-packed spectacle on Amal Neerad’s list of productions.

Two years after Amal Neerad, a former cinematographer turned filmmaker, ignited the Kerala box office with his gangster action picture Bheeshma Parvam, which starred Mammootty in the lead role, he has revealed that he will be directing again, but this time with a group of up-and-coming talent. The first look poster for the film, Bougainvillaea, which stars the main characters and provides a brief glance into the movie’s world, has finally been released.

The image, which is steeped in blood-red hues and features Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, Jyothirmayi, Sharaf U Dheen, Veena Nandakumar, and Srinda in prominent parts, conveys a sense of dread and emphasises that Bougainvillaea will be another action-packed spectacle in Neerad’s repertoire. Boban, holding a shotgun in the centre of the poster, exudes a swagger, while Fahadh is standing close by, aiming a handgun in the other way while projecting an angry expression. Jyothirmayi is pictured at Boban’s right, carrying another shotgun and with a salt-and-pepper appearance. With angry expressions, Sharaf U Dheen, Veena Nandakumar, and Srinda heighten the tension in the backdrop.

Amal Neerad and his group have been revealing the names of the main actors in Bougainvillaea since Saturday morning. Along with actively pushing the project, renowned director Lijo Jose Pellissery also posted a poster of Nivin Pauly on social media, confirming his connection with Bougainvillaea. Though neither Neerad nor the cast of the movie have revealed any fan-made posters, it is said that this one is, thus one has to presume that this is the case.

Renowned for his visually stunning action scenes and sophisticated portrayal of violence on screen, Neerad began his career in 2004 as a cameraman for Ranjith’s Black, which starred Mammootty in the title role. The Mammootty-starring film Big B (2007), which marked his directorial debut, created a trend and has since developed a cult following. His later motion pictures, including Varathan, Iyobinte Pustakam, Comrade in America, Anwar, Sagar Alias Jacky Reloaded, and Bheeshma Parvam, have all amassed sizable fan bases.
