DAY 9: SCHEDULE AND ORDER OF PLAY: WHEN WILL NOVAK DJOKOVIC PLAY AT THE FRENCH OPEN 2024? ARYNA SABALENKA’S START DATE?
On Monday, June 3, the French Open, which airs live on Eurosport and Discovery+, resumes at Roland-Garros. A number of well-known athletes will compete on day nine. Headlining the men’s action is Novak Djokovic, who makes a comeback following his thrilling five-set match against Lorenzo Musetti. Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina will compete for a spot in the quarterfinals of the women’s draw.
Some of the biggest names in tennis are competing in the fourth round of the French Open at Roland-Garros on Monday, June 3, with the goal of securing a trip to the quarterfinals on the Parisian clay courts.
After a five-set drama that lasted into the wee hours of Sunday morning against Lorenzo Musetti, last year’s men’s winner Novak Djokovic is back, and Alexander Zverev will also be fighting to reach the round of eight.
Elena Rybakina and Aryna Sabalenka are ranked first and second on Court Philippe-Chatrier, respectively, in the women’s draw.
On what is sure to be another exciting day in the French capital, Daniil Medvedev, Casper Ruud, and Jasmine Paolini will grace Court Suzanne-Lenglen elsewhere.
#1 MEN’S MATCH: FRANCISO CERUNDOLO vs. NOVAK DJOKOVIC
Although Djokovic had advanced calmly through the first two rounds, he struggled on Saturday night against Musetti of Italy.
The world number one had to rely on all of his remarkable recuperation skills to come back from two sets to one down and win at 3.07 am, somewhat confused by the late start amid continuous delays because to inclement weather.
It remains to be seen if it will matter when he faces Franciso Cerundolo of Argentina, but either way, it could be an interesting matchup.
Cerundolo defeated American Tommy Paul in the first round but has only lost one set on his way to the round of four.
It’s interesting that Djokovic and Cerundolo have never met, which could be to Cerundolo’s advantage.
#1 WOMEN’S MATCH: Emma Navarro vs. Aryna Saballek
Throughout the entire competition, Aryna Sabalenka has been among the top players and has not dropped a set.
She easily defeated her close friend Paula Badosa in the previous round, but Emma Navarro will probably present a tougher challenge.
Additionally, Navarro hasn’t dropped a set and defeated her American countrymate Madison Keys in the third round after winning two tiebreakers.
Although Sabalenka is the early frontrunner, don’t be shocked if she wins.
