Hello everyone.. I have been in public life as an actress, artist for 44 years and MP for last 5 years. Also, I have taken seriously every responsibility in my life as an artist, as a wife and mother or as a parliamentarian and as a person. As a responsible person in society, I cannot make careless, unnecessary, irresponsible statements without having any facts or information.
Today I am posting to clarify some things, to share my thoughts and pain because I do not want to encourage any more speculation in the media or social media or cause any confusion among fans about my stand.
Let me first offer my condolences to the parents and wife of Renukaswamy who have lost their son and husband in a heartbreaking manner and I pray that God gives them the strength to face this tragedy and bear the pain. I pray that they get the justice they deserve from our legal system.
This incident shattered my heart and I was in a state of shock and pain for several days, unable to comprehend it. Some who are commenting on my “silence” do not understand the enormity between me and Darshan, his family and the bond we have shared over the years. I knew him for 25 years before he became a star and a superstar. More than any stardom, he is a member of my family and always like a son to me. He has always considered Ambarish as his father and has given me the respect and position of his mother and the love of a son.
No mother can bear to see her child in such a situation. I know Darshan to be a very caring and generous person with a loving heart. His compassion and helping spirit towards animals has always been a part of his nature. I believe that the personality to do this act is not Darshan’s. As this case is in court, no comment will be given at this time.
It is very unfair to target Darshan along with his wife Vijayalakshmi and innocent son on social media. Apart from this, it is painful that the poor families of the other accused are also suffering. Social media users and the public should consider how their comments may affect the families of the victim or the accused, who are already dealing with this horrific situation.
The investigation is on and the police are doing their job and I have a lot of faith in our justice system. Darshan is an accused in this case and nothing has been proved or convicted yet. It is up to the law and no one else to judge and punish already in this regard. Let there be an opportunity to clarify his position and facts on this matter.
In this situation, it is impossible for me to stay away from this problem. This is my own family problem. This is a very serious matter regarding their life and family’s comfort, security, future. We are all hurting. Film industry is chaotic. Livelihood of thousands of people depends on his film productions. It was not easy for anyone to face this.
I had to get myself out of a state of shock and anguish and calm myself down to make sense of all the confusing news coming from so many sources. This is not some movie or political event that I can occasionally comment on. I hope people understand that it is very painful for me to discuss this or to see Darshan standing as an accused in such a crime. Let us remember that being accused does not mean that he is guilty. They have the same right to defend themselves legally as anyone else.
Darshan always calls me Mother India and he will be my eldest son as long as I live. Our bond is one and nothing can change it. As their mother I am constantly praying to God that the truth will come out and justice for all. I am hopeful that they will prove themselves innocent and come out and resume filming, normal life.
A heartfelt request to Darshan fans, please keep calm and don’t make statements or react in any negativity at this moment which may affect his family or loved ones. It’s just a bad phase, but they need all of our moral support. So don’t be discouraged. None of us is above the law and we must respect it, and wait patiently. Pray for good times to return.
