Following her receipt of the Icon Award at the Hollywood Unlocked Impact event, Sharon Stone gives an acceptance speech.
Sharon Stone opens up at the Hollywood Unlocked Impact Awards on Friday, discussing her quick ascent to stardom in Hollywood throughout the 1980s and 1990s.
The star of Basic Instinct gave an acceptance speech on June 21 following her Icon Award victory.
“I became so well-known so quickly, and I became so well-known that people tried to minimise my achievements,” she remarked.
“I was a woman who took a position of power, and I decided to use fame in a way that I felt had meaning and value,” said Sharon, explaining why they refused to grant it to her.
“And I think it’s a wasted thing if you don’t use your fame in an effort to help change the world into a better place,” the 66-year-old went on.
Calling her well-known “Barney, the purple elephant, has to go everywhere with me, and sometimes I don’t want to go out because of that, and it can be awkward for other people and uneasy for me,” Sharon revealed.
She continued, “and make it difficult for me to have regular relationships with people in the world.”
Along with thanking the audience, the Total Recall actress also acknowledged Cardi B, Raven-SymonĂ©, and Tiffany Haddish, who served as the evening’s host.
“I would like to express my gratitude to all of you, as you have made me feel secure, accepted, and like I belong in this space,” said Sharon.
“Everyone walking in the same zone is the reason for the connection,” she continued.
