The much anticipated “Mirror scene” from Julia Quinn’s book Romancing Mister Bridgerton is finally shown to viewers. Fans have been waiting all season for this moment.
Penelope makes several plans in episode 5 to reveal her secret to Colin. She is still interrupted, though, by the news that Queen Charlotte is offering 5,000 pounds to the first person to produce proof of Lady Whistledown’s identity. Penelope is informed by Eloise that she must tell Colin the truth before midnight, or else Eloise will do it herself. However, Cressida’s unexpected announcement that she is Lady Whistledown during the couple’s engagement celebration throws off her preparations to tell Colin once more.
Cressida is telling the truth, but the Queen and the tonne don’t think so. Eloise informs Penelope that it would be better if Colin is unaware that she is Whistledown after speaking with Colin. With her pride now established, Cressida can concentrate on being a Bridgerton. It’s just rumour, but you had a nice run for a while. Give it up.
Uninvited, Cressida comes up at the Mondrich gala with her mother and says she has a surprise for the Queen. Cressida was previously informed by Her Majesty that in order to receive her 5,000 pounds reward, she would need to present another issue of Whistledown. Consequently, Cressida distributes a succinct but persuasive memo hinting that Whistledown will be releasing her complete issue the next morning.
Penelope dashes into a nearby room with Eloise. They find it hard to accept that Cressida wrote a book. “I am completely to blame,” Eloise admits, lamenting her relationship with Cressida. Penelope reassures Eloise, saying, “I’m going to publish again, so it will be okay.”
How Does Colin Learn That Lady Whistledown Is Penelope?
At the conclusion of “Romancing Mister Bridgerton,” Season 3, Episode 6, Colin learns Penelope’s secret identity. Colin starts pursuing Penelope after observing her and Eloise flee into a different room. When her carriage takes her to a low-income area of the city (where her publisher’s office is located), he begins to worry about her safety. Penelope was presenting one final Whistledown to permanently undermine Cressida’s claim.
Colin is there when Penelope turns around, and his expression is a mixture of disbelief and rage. He asks, “You… are Lady Whistledown? Colin says, “I sensed something wasn’t right. I foolishly accused myself of being undeserving of your affection. However, the blame lies with you.
He then says the most heartbreaking thing imaginable. He adds, “I will never forgive you,” and turns to go. Penelope’s issue is likewise in the hands of the tonne before Cressida Cowper’s Lady Whistledown piece is published the next morning. Everyone quickly finds out that Cressida is lying.
In the second part, does Eloise forgive Penelope?
Penelope informs Eloise that Colins is aware of her secret as they are promenading. They get along well because Penelope has been pardoned by Eloise. Even though their friendship has improved, Eloise claims she is powerless to assist Penelope in mending her relationship with Colin. She is on her own to handle that.
After finding out who Lady Whistledown is, Colin visits the Bridgerton House where he meets Eloise. He asks her, “How long have you known? He looks at Eloise and says, “I think you should consider yourself lucky,” in response to her question about whether he could ever forgive her as she has. You’ve never experienced love.
When the big day for their wedding finally arrives, everything goes without a hitch. Except for the Bridgerton family, which includes Penelope, everyone is told to leave when Queen Charlotte unexpectedly appears. There is someone in this room who is hiding something. Her Majesty commands, “And I shall not leave until they come forward and reveal themselves.” Coming out, Francesca informs the Queen that she has been covertly engaged to Lord Kilmartin. She is reassured by the Queen that it is not the secret being discussed. She is aware that Lady Whistledown is there in this space. Penelope is informed by Colin that she must cease writing the column.
How does Penelope reveal herself to be Lady Whistledown to Cressida?
At the conclusion of “Joining of Hands,” the seventh episode of Season 3, Cressida’s father had sent her away to live with her aunt Joanna and forbade her from leaving her room. Seeking a means of escape, Cressida goes back to looking for Whistledown. She goes to several publishers before running across an employee who informs her that her columns used to be printed by his former boss. In addition, the boy informs her that Whistledown has red hair.
When Penelope learns she has a guest, she assumes it is her mother and goes to welcome them. It’s Cressida instead, and she makes an astonishing discovery. Penelope is informed by Cressida that she is “simply” paying a visit to the “esteemed” Lady Whistledown. She intends to blackmail Penelope because she is aware of her secret. Cressida is requesting 10,000 pounds, which is twice the Queen’s prize, in order to establish herself overseas. She will reveal that Penelope is Whistledown to everyone if Penelope disobeys.
What Takes Place in Part Two of Bridgerton Season Three?
Lady Featherington enters the room and learns of her daughter’s hidden identity now that Cressida is aware of Penelope’s identity. Portia asks her daughter, “Tell me it’s not true.” Pen answers, “Cresssida does not lie for once.” Her mother, who worries that their marriage would end in divorce, assures her that Colin must not be aware of the blackmail.
Penelope and her mother locate Colin and Eloise at Bridgerton House. They should know, she says; Cressida does. Colin tells Penelope that he won’t allow someone to blackmail his wife and that he will take action. Penelope admits that she has the money to reimburse her. Colin is adamant, “You are not giving Miss Cowper a single penny.” Rather, he is going to meet with Cressida and persuade her to cease.
Colin tries to reason with Cressida when they meet, but it doesn’t succeed. A printer’s apprentice is eager to confirm the truth, as Cressida reveals. She is now requesting twice as much money as she did at first, along with a Whistledown column to help her reputation get back on track. Penelope has till the Dankworth-Finch ball for Colin and Penelope to pay her. She will notify everyone the next morning if they don’t.
How Does The Tonne Find Out That Lady Whistledown Is Actually Penelope?
Colin is informed by Penelope that she will not allow him to deceive Benedict in order to get the money he needs to pay Cressida. Rather, she writes a letter to Lady Bridgerton and the Queen, and she gives Varley a big quantity of money, which he uses for Prudence and Phillipa’s ball.
When the Queen shows up at the Dankworth-Finch ball, she makes an unexpected news. She discloses that Lady Whistledown has written her a letter. The writer is prepared to emerge from the background and take on the role of the tonne. Penelope advances as the Queen gestures for her to do so.
Penelope admits that at first she didn’t think her writing would be taken seriously. “I was so enthralled with you, living your lives so publicly, that I wrote about all of you.” Penelope continues, saying that she used the power that came with being Whistledown carelessly. She claims that the most important piece of information she possesses can no longer be kept a secret. She expresses gratitude to the Queen as well for bringing her out of hiding with her plan.
Penelope says she intends to write more responsibly now that she has the Queen’s permission to continue. She appears modest. Penelope makes her wish known, and the Queen graciously grants it, saying, “But we will be watching that she remains so.” Without some gossip, what would life be like? As soon as Philippa gives Varley the all-clear to release the bugs, hundreds of butterflies take off. Everyone starts applauding.
Penelope is found by Colin in the ballroom. He tells her that at initially he made every effort to keep Penelope and Whistledown apart. After reading every letter he had sent to him over the years, he has had a change of heart. He now understands that she and Whistledown are one, and they are not distinct. In the end, Cressida is sent to live with her Aunt Joanna in the country.
Penelope, Prudence, and Philipa are all pregnant in the last scene. The infant son of Penelope and Colin will be formally recognised as the next Lord Featherington. Colin has been writing his first book about his adventures in the interim. As Penelope Bridgerton, she is signing her gossip pieces using her actual name instead of her previous pen name, Lady Whistledown.
Michaela Stirling: Who Is She?
There are spoilers for Julia Quinn’s book “When He Was Wicked” ahead.
In the last episode, Francesca and Lord Kilmartin tie the knot in a modest ceremony with the intention of relocating to Scotland. In order for Eloise to see more of the world than Mayfair and Aubrey Hall, she will journey with them.
Lord Kilmartin presents Francesca and Eloise to his cousin Michaela Stirling, played by Masali Baduza, before they depart. In Julia Quinn’s book “When He Was Wicked,” Francesca marries a man called Michael Stirling instead of a woman when John passes away unexpectedly.
FORBES: Who Is Michaela Stirling Anyway? ‘Bridgerton’ by Monica Mercuri: A Queer Turn for Francesca’s Love Story
This huge turn of events sets the stage for Francesca and Michaela to date in a later season of Bridgerton, the first time a queer romance will be the focus of the show. Michaela’s inclusion follows Brownell’s earlier statement to Pride about her desire to include more LGBTQ+ narratives in the Netflix series.
“It was a priority for me to see more queer joy on my screens when I took on the role of showrunner,” the showrunner stated. “I’m excited for fans to see that, but I can’t say exactly how that plays out over this season and the next couple of seasons.”
Netflix offers the full season three of Bridgerton’s episodes for viewing.
